I must be the proudest Dad on Earth. Well, me and every other father of a two-year-old I guess! Nicholas is learning new things day-by-day, and continuing to amaze us all. He has a fantastic memory with his storybooks, and his vocabulary is immense (even though his anunciation and diction is standard-two-year-old!).
One of his favourite tricks at the moment is to “correct himself”. He deliberately misidentifies an object (picks up a green car and says “pink car”), so that he can restate the correct identification (“no, is *green* car”).
He combined this with his storybook memory the other night. He has a board book called Planes (I picked it up at the Smithsonian) which is bright and colourful and full of things to point at and talk about. While on the page that shows a seaplane landing, with houses and trees in the background, he pointed to a house and said “purple truck”. Straight away, he said “no…”, turned to the next page which shows a farmyard with a crop duster flying overhead and a purple truck parked next to the barn, and proudly said “*there* is purple truck”!
He’s my little man, and I love him! 😀
